Scanning fields with nightvision
On our travels in and around Wiltshire we occasionally bump into some characters !!!. On the night of 25th July we were doing our usual rounds, stopping and observing various fields etc. As we drove towards East Field we spotted a vehicle parked at the edge of the field, so we decided to stop and have a look. We were greeted by a Dutch tourist who introduced himself as ' Rod ' , very pleasant chap who was more of a UFO enthusiast. We chatted for a while, ( about crop circles of course ) then out of the blue he said ' shall we make a crop circle ?' . We both looked at him and asked him ' where ? ', he said ' Here in East Field !'. We advised him that it was not a good idea as East Field was one of the most watched fields and it would be a pointless exercise as Tim Carson would cut it out first thing in the morning as he did with the last attempt.
As Rod was heading back home the following day he was adamant to have a go but there was one problem !. What would he make the crop circle with ? . We had nothing with us to help him ( he was a great sport and quite entertaining with his sparkle of enthusiasm ), all we could do was to advise him that it he got caught he would be eating cereal for breakfast at the local Wiltshire Constabulary detention centre.
Somehow I don't think he understood what we meant as he started rummaging through the boot of his car. Next thing we hear is a shout of excitement ' I have a tow rope ! ' . Right ok ! Its a start !. Then he disappeared  for about 10 minutes and we wondered ' where the hell did he go to ? . Then the next thing we hear is the sound of cracking branches !. We instantly understood the way this guy was thinking !. He came running out of the darkness with a fairly straight piece of branch. He got his pen knife out and started shaving grooves in one straight pieces of branch and tied his tow rope to each end ( this stick was no more than 2 foot in length ) . He then cut off the rest of the rope which was at a guess 10 foot long. He then shaved a pointed end on a longer piece of branch.
We joked with him and asked him if by any chance he used to be a boy scout, but again I don't think he understood the humor as he didn't respond.

So we joked again at his branch and rope effort and asked him ' What on earth are you going to make with that ? ' . He responded by saying in his Dutch accent ' I make circle - look its easy ' . He then demonstrated how he was going to carry out the task . Hmmm yeap it could work we thought but what would his circle look like?.

He then asked if we could help him ..... NO was the straight answer, not in East Field anyway !. Then he asked if we could watch over him and give him a sign if anyone else arrived on the scene. We were still reluctant and said if he went in then he would have to do it of his own back. ( we were highly surprised at the trust this guy had shown ).
He poured himself a drink from his flask and started etching out a pattern on the dry ground, you could see he was deep in thought so we jumped back into our car and had a quick coffee ourselves while Rod was scratching his head.

We probably took our eyes off Rod for no more than 5 minutes and then we decided to walk over to him and ask him what he had decided to do.

Plenty of Orbs
Rod was nowhere to be seen, his car was locked, he was gone ! .
We looked around and shouted in a whisper tone ' Rod ' where are you ? , but nothing, no response.
So we headed back to our car and grabbed our night vision goggles , but again we could not spot him anywhere. We were puzzled how he slipped away and vanished into the darkness. So we waited and continued to scan the field with night vision.

It was approx. 1.00 am when Rod vanished into the darkness, then at exactly 1.35am we spotted a figure emerging from East Field - It was Rod !.
Running over to us and punching the air with excitement he said ' I made one ! ' . We looked at each other and thought where and what did he manage to make in half hour? . Our curiosity took hold so we had to go and have a quick look.

What we could see was one hell of a surprise and rather oddly patted him on his back for his effort but what was more intriguing was that he made the circle no more than 80 meters from where we stood ( with a branch and a tow rope! ) and yet on this occasion we failed to spot him. As I was grabbing a couple of quick shots of this circle Rod started to head out of the field rather quickly so we followed. Rod immediately jumped into his car and said ' bye ' and drove off.  ( rather odd to say the least ! ) .

I must be honest we did the same as Rods final behavior did not match the guy we spoke to when we first met him. So we didn't hang around just in case we got the blame for this curious creation.

Also somewhere out in the field must be his boy scout creation ( rope and stick !! ) as when he returned he did not come back with it !

Bizarre !!!!
